During the cold winter months there is one thing that our family turns to to keep us from getting sick- Garlic! This wonder medicine, that also happens to be delicious, helps the body fight off harmful viruses and bacteria. My favorite way to prepare it is to first dice it, then crush really well with a wide blade knife on the cutting board. Doing this releases the Allicin that is the key to helping your immune system. You must eat it right away though. This is a much better way than from supplements. If it is a bit to spicy for you, what we like to do is put it on sprouted grain bread with a bit of organic grass fed butter and lightly toast it for about a minute or two. You will still feel the benefits, it tastes wonderful, and it will help keep the garlic eating stink away.
Another family favorite is some hot miso soup, with a bit of coconut oil and the raw crushed garlic mixed in. The longer you let the garlic sit in the hot water the less spicy it gets. All depends on your taste and what you can stomach.
Or how about a bit of minced organic cilantro or parsley, a pinch of himalayan salt, a splash of apple cider vinegar and sliced tomato and you have yourself quite a tasty snack or meal.
So next time before you reach for the cold medicine, try some crushed raw garlic first!
